This past spring I was intrigued by the idea of learning some Irish Gaelic. I have always been very curious to delve into it. To learn the basics and how it functions. To try and hear the voice of the language. I must say that I had put it off until now because 1. I have always heard it was pretty difficult and 2. This seemed like as good as any to do it. So I bought an app and bookmarked a few websites and when I could, I studied. Since I was roughly 12 I had began to teach myself French. Later, as a late twenty-year-old it was Russian. Then it was German. I think I picked up on Russian better than I thought I would have. I feel I did the best with German as it really felt more natural to me. But I digress. I honestly haven’t gone too far with Irish Gaelic as of yet, but I plan to.
Another thing I am anticipating is seeing the countryside and meeting people. The hills and mountains, the ancient and modern structures and history, and just the overall uplifting beauty. The hospitality, the friendliness and humor, and of course the accents. All within the traditional public houses and B&Bs. The famous landmarks and distilleries. The scenic drives and ancient castles. The Irish hospitality and their melodic, cheerful and even raucous music. I can't wait. -R
